Facebook Will Delete Old Videos
Facebook has changed its live video storage policy. From now on, live videos will be stored for only 30 days, after which they will be automatically deleted. Previously, live videos could be stored indefinitely. However, starting today, all live videos older than 30 days will be marked for deletion.
Facebook has stated that before deleting old live videos, users will receive a notification. They will be given 90 days to save, transfer, or convert their old videos.
How Can Users Save Their Live Videos?
Facebook has provided three options for users:
Download:
Users can save their live videos to their own devices.
Transfer to Cloud Storage:
Videos can be transferred to cloud storage platforms like Google Drive or Dropbox.
Convert to Reels:
Users can convert key moments from their live videos into Facebook Reels for preservation.
Why Is Facebook Making This Change?
In a blog post, Facebook stated that this change will align their storage policy with industry standards and improve the live video experience on the platform. However, they did not provide further explanations.
If users need more time, they can delay video deletion for up to six months. However, if no action is taken within six months, Facebook will automatically delete the videos, and there will be no way to recover them later.
